Couple Retreat.

Learning to Love and Be Loved

Thursday 19th to Thursday 26th August 2021

A week long retreat for couples.

With John and Tatiana Shuttleworth

Venue La Roane, South of France.

For a New Beginning

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.

John O'Donahugh.

We would like to invite you to "awaken your spirit to adventure," and join us on this couples retreat of learning to love and be loved.

This retreat is likely to be the first residential we will be offering after the retrictions of lockdown and all that has meant for us all. We will be mindful of the themes and opportunities that we see individually and collectively emerging in these interesting and challenging times.

Given the demands and complexities of our modern day lives, our most intimate and important relationships are often left isolated and unsupported, attempting somehow to survive the challenges expected of them, with little or no resourcing, nourishment or a context in which to have a voice of their own in terms of what they are offering the individuals within it.

Our previous couple retreats have confirmed our understanding that couples really do need a village to hold them. The energy created by a loving couple is more than they can contain on their own. Our particpants have found that being part of a caring community of like minded men and women, willing to really engage, listen and respond to the potential and challenge of what is being called for, individually, in relationship, and collectively, can be life changing.

This workshop will offer couples an opportunity to explore in depth what it really means to risk fully opening to giving and receiving love, and to begin to learn to listen to the unique potential for healing, transformation, and growth that their relationship holds for them. We will explore ways of nourishing the relationship and attend to what may be blocking the possibilities for growth, by working in a variety of ways including using the arts and nature. We will also attend to ancestral patterns, and to what is being called for at this particular time.

We hope that this week proves to be nourishing, fulfilling, relaxing and fun. We will also explore ways to keep the flame of your relationship alive and supported when you return home.

La Roane is peaceful and secluded with wonderful woodland walks to explore, a paradise for nature lovers.

We will take over the whole place for the week to ensure privacy and to create a safe retreat space.

Nearby is the mediaeval market town of St Antonin recently voted the 3rd most beautiful village in France and the scene of "The Hundred Foot Journey" starring Helen Mirren.

Flowing through St Antonin and the spectacular Aveyron gorge is the River Aveyron, ideal for picnicing, swimming and canoeing.
